The Associates of the Sisters of the Holy Nativity are persons living in the world who desire to connect themselves with the Community, for the advancement of their own spiritual life, and for the furtherance of the interests of the Community and of the Religious Life in general.
It is to be expected, therefore, that Associates will labor without ceasing for their own sanctification, gladly embracing the privileges toward this end which may be offered through their relation to the Sisterhood; seeking ever to reproduce in themselves CHRIST's own spirit of humility, charity, prayer, and zeal for souls; and to grow in devotion to HIS hidden and interior life.
They should also embrace every opportunity to increase and to spread their knowledge of the Religious Life; they should maintain its principles, and help those who may be called to it with sympathy and encouragement.
ASSOCIATES DATES TO REMEMBER
It is evident that all Associates cannot give themselves in the same manner to the service of their Blessed LORD. Lack of health and strength, the pressure of other duties, or lack of natural gifts may prevent the devoted service which they desire to render.
Let them give their time generously to the greater work of prayer. Never before have Church and world been in greater need of prayer. The desire to win hearts for HIM will inspire them to make prayer a duty of highest importance and strictest obligation.
Intercession for the conversion of sinners and for the guidance, renewal and sanctification of the haithful, is a task which the feeblest, the busiest, the simplest can perform.
Let this be regarded as a work to be done with duteous, persevering fidelity, and not as something which may be put aside if it fails to attract. Prayer is real and laborious work, but in no other way can such great results be attained. By it, the nations of all the earth may be won to CHRIST and all things brought into subjection to HIM. No one need be shut out from a share in this devoted service.
Let the Associates join heart and soul with the Sisters in the prayer of intercession. This is the pulse of corporate life, by which they are bound more closely to one another, and each to the Sisterhood. Let them make diligent use of the Intercession Papers. If convenient, this may be done when the Community is engaged in the same exercise, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
